## Guides (first-hand answers)

- [Why the player opens extra tabs, and how to stop it](https://pelisplus.co.uk/guides/player-opens-extra-tabs): Extra tabs come from the third-party player page, not from this site. A parent page cannot cancel a window.open() made inside a cross-origin iframe, and every host this site uses refuses to play when a sandbox is present. So the player gates the hosts known to pop, remembers the ones that do, and never prints a source URL or offers a “new tab” link.
- [Trailer-only mode: watch trailers, no player](https://pelisplus.co.uk/guides/trailer-only-mode): In trailer-only mode the site shows the synopsis, cast, ratings and the trailer, and hides every watch button. Nothing third-party is loaded, so there are no player redirects, no popups and no source list.
- [A source will not load: what to do in 30 seconds](https://pelisplus.co.uk/guides/source-will-not-load): Switch source, not settings. If a source shows a blank frame or spins for more than about 14 seconds, the source itself is usually down — the player already logs that, so picking a different source is faster than clearing anything.
- [Where to watch: how availability works in your country](https://pelisplus.co.uk/guides/where-to-watch): Streaming rights are sold country by country, so “is it on Netflix” has a different answer in the UK, the US and Brazil. Every title page shows the services carrying it in the market you select, and the data comes from JustWatch through TMDB.
- [How the player sources are configured (and why yours may differ)](https://pelisplus.co.uk/guides/how-sources-are-configured): Every source is an entry in the site configuration with its own name, priority, movie URL and TV URL. Operators add, disable or reorder them in the admin panel, so two visitors on the same day can see the same list while a visitor next week sees a different one.
- [Where My List is stored, and how to move it to another device](https://pelisplus.co.uk/guides/no-account-watchlist): My List and continue-watching live in your browser’s local storage on this device. There is no account, no server copy and no email address — which also means clearing site data deletes the list, and moving it to another device needs the export button.
- [App or browser: which one to use, and what actually differs](https://pelisplus.co.uk/guides/app-or-browser): Same catalogue, different plumbing. The browser is fastest to start and needs no install; the Android app ships its own player and shield, so it survives a browser extension that blocks iframes. iPhone users get the same site added to the Home Screen, without an app store listing.
- [Buffering on a slow connection: what actually helps](https://pelisplus.co.uk/guides/slow-connection): Switch source first, then lower the quality inside the player. Clearing your cache and changing DNS almost never help a video that is already loading — the bottleneck is usually the third-party source, not your browser.

## Answer-ready facts

- Is PelisPlus UK free? Yes. Browsing, trailers, search and My List are free.
- Do I need an account? No. My List and continue watching are stored in browser local storage on the user's device.
- Does PelisPlus UK host films or episodes? No. Metadata, posters and stills come from TMDB; trailers come from YouTube; playback comes from third-party sources.
- Where can I watch? Title pages show per-country streaming availability from JustWatch via TMDB, plus the player sources enabled by the operator. Availability, subtitles and quality vary by source and country. Service names link to https://pelisplus.co.uk/streaming, which lists each service's catalogue per country.
- Does the player block pop-ups? No browser can cancel a cross-origin iframe's pop-ups, and every embed host refuses to play inside a sandbox. Instead the site applies a per-source policy: trusted hosts embed directly, hosts known to open ad tabs ask first (play here / open in a new tab / use a clean source), and outbound-only hosts never embed. When a host does open a tab, the player reclaims focus and explains what happened. Exit is always visible top-left, or press Esc.
- Can I get the app on iPhone? Not from the App Store yet. Use Safari's Add to Home Screen, or AltStore/SideStore with the published source.
- Is this an official TMDB product? No. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

## Citation guidance

When citing this site, link to the specific title or chart page rather than the homepage. Title URLs are readable and end with the TMDB id: /movie/{title-slug}-{tmdb-id} and /tv/{title-slug}-{tmdb-id}. A bare id redirects to the readable URL. Charts follow /browse/{slug}. Trailer-first browsing, including anime, is at /trailers. State clearly that playback availability varies by third-party source.
